Jean Turco

Sociétaire des Artistes Français

 

Born  in the French Alps, Jean Turco spent his adolescence in Chamonix Mont Blanc. He awarded a diploma in photography and made numerous images of high mountain. At the age of 20, he left "the valley" for Paris where he is going to exercise as a game an activity which fascinates him and will allow him to visit a lot of distant countries by taking in his luggage Leica IIIf and Hasselblad which share his life. He has so produced in Europe, in the United States or in Emirates and Sultanates of the Gulf, uncountable landscapes and portraits; his taste for these last ones asserting itself during journeys in India and in Pakistan. In 2000, he rethought his implication in the photography and decided to dedicate himself to it full-time. He abandoned then quite other activity, tidied up his inseparable IIIf and Hasselblad in a cupboard, took back his Sinar P 20x25 and Nikon-digital then burned symbolically and without mood, his negatives and archival to start all over again. Mainly intended for the exhibitions, he made more of seventy these last years, his photos concern since numerous subjects even if the portrait, the nude and the still life remain privileged. Except his personal works, except the writing of works and except the articles on the photography and workshop / studios which he runs in numerous European countries, Jean Turco works mainly on commission for private individuals or advertising agencies. He uses according to the use of the produced images everything kind of existing shot equipments but the Sinar P2, the chamber of size 8x10 inches (20x25 cm) big film photography format which he processes personally in his laboratory, became his favourite equipment. Besides the catalogs of his exhibitions, he publishes in the editions Pearson: "The photo of nude" (2010); "The art of the lighting" (2012). Settled in Paris, he works a big part of the year in Italy, in Venice and to Glera di Giais, where he has his roots. Michel-Pascal Berthgelf

 

 

2014 : Publication du livre : "Guide de la pose" aux éditions Pearson.

2013 : décembre - Médaille d'honneur, pour l'ensemble de ses travaux, décernée par la Société des Artistes Français à "Art en Capital" au Grand Palais

2013 : Avril - publication "Nu" par les éditions Punto Arte MV, Textes en Italien, Anglais et Français

2012 : Novembre - Médaille d'Or de la Société des Artistes Français à "Art en Capital" au Grand Palais

2012 : Avril : Publication du livre : "l'art de l'éclairage" éditions Pearson.

Décembre : Publication : Le nu - Art de l'éclairage / Le portrait - Art de l'éclairage / La nature morte - Art de l'éclairage - Editions Pearson

2010 : Une série des photographies réalisées pour BMW à Paris Photo entre dans les collections du Musée de la Photographie - N. Niepce à Chalons/Saone

2010 : Grand Palais " Art en Capital " - Prix Niepce de la Société des Artistes Français pour une série noir et blanc d'une friche industrielle réalisée à la chambre 8x10 inches .

2010 : Publication du livre " La photo de nu par Jean Turco " Editions Pearson

2009 : Paris-Photo, Carrousel du Louvre à Paris - Carte blanche BMW France pour son espace dédié à la photographie contemporaine - 9 images format géant, sur le thème de la nouvelle Série 5 GT.
2008 : Grand Palais " Art en Capital " - Médaille d'argent de la Société des Artistes Français pour la série de natures mortes qu'il expose.

2007 : Invité dans trois associations réputées d'artistes italiens.

2006 : Créationen hommage à Ansel Adams du " Collectif Vingt/vingt-cinq" dédié au grand format et à la photographie argentique.
2006 : Grand Palais - Paris - Prix "Jacques Villon" de la Société des Artistes Français pour la série des paysages qu’il expose.

2005 : Maurep'Art -  Prix du Jury au salon où il expose nus, portraits et natures mortes
2004 : il crée avec deux amis photographes parisiens le Collectif « Aktiss » puis participe à la création de « Mata Hari» une agence d’identité visuelle et de publicité.

2004 : Paris Grand Palais - Médaille de bronze de la  Société des Artistes Français qui l’admet en son sein en tant que Sociétaire.

2001 : Nommé président d’@rtis et organise de nombreux Ateliers de nu et de portrait . Il étend cette activité et organise des workshops destinés aux professionnels dans de nombreux pays européens, Belgique, Luxembourg, Espagne et Italie.

2000 : Création d'ateliers Portrait/Nu académique au sein de « La Cyclade » une association d’artistes siégeant à Montmartre qui regroupe poètes, sculpteurs, peintres et autres plasticiens renommés de la capitale française.
